I’m sitting here writing this literally smiling. Smiling because I’m so happily content with where I am at in life right now that I’m not writing these realizing this whole new chapter is about to prevent me from doing these. I’m smiling because I know I conquered that part of my life, I lived it up more than I could have imagined, and I want you to also. I want you to feel this feeling of contentment I’m feeling when your next chapter begins. I’m smiling because that was such a great time in mine & Drew’s lives and I thought we had it made. Now I’m realizing, now we have it made. That makes me smile. Growth makes me smile. It’s so funny how quickly your wants & desires can change once your natural instinct of priorities change. Now this baby girl and our growing little family is my priority. So before that becomes yours too, make sure you live these up the best you can so you’ll not only have no regrets with no what-ifs, you’ll only have pure excitement for your changing chapters.
This is to inspire everyone who doesn’t have kids yet or not pregnant. And if you’re a mom or mom-to-be reading this, this is not to discourage you in any way. This is to hopefully see what you can check off this list in new and different ways that can now make you happier & more fulfilled in a whole new light that wasn’t even possible before!
4 THINGS I’M SO GLAD I DID BEFORE GETTING PREGNANT
There are no excuses to not make your wellness your #1 priority. Your body is your everything. Fuel it with proper foods that will make you at the top of your game. Try new superfoods without having to check your “food safety app” wondering if that’s something that will harm the baby. Go for a workout and don’t come up with an excuse. Looking back, there really is no reason why I would make excuses/not workout if I wasn’t feeling it. Not to sound like a Nike ad, but just do it.
Travel the world
The experiences you gain when traveling are life changing. And I’m not talking continental. Flee the country. Go to another hemisphere and as far away as possible to soak up as much knowledge as possible. Everyone told us to travel, travel, travel before we have kids. And, wow, Drew and I sure traveled. Australia, New Zealand, Asia, all over Europe, you name it – we’ve been there. Having kids won’t prevent us from traveling because I was raised traveling outside the country and we want our kids to experience the same. But we know it will be years until we reach that level, and it will be different.
Move around the country on a whim with no strings attached
(For all we know, Drew & I may still be doing this depending on what happens with his football career) BUT I am writing this from the comfort of my home state of Georgia surrounded by family at the moment, so I feel like it’s a past-tense thing currently. Move across the country for a job or just because. Go to a new region. Or just even migrate a few states over. Whatever. But go. The learning, growth, experiences & closeness you gain to your significant other and/or friends that become your family is something so very special that can’t be felt living in your comfort zone. There is no describing the bond of constantly relying on one another and how much your love grows. Go outside of it. Make moves. (Pun intended)
Do whatever. Whenever.
But seriously. Why not? I would love having absolutely zero plans and deciding to switch it up all of a sudden. I would love having plans and deciding to cancel them because I just didn’t feel like doing it. Whatever you do or don’t want to do. So be it.
