Welcome, 2019!
I hope you all had happy, fun and fabulous celebrations! The excitement of the holidays has tapered off, real life might be setting in, and you might be wondering where to even begin with how to stay on track with your goals for the year ahead.
I am so excited to share the second part (and BEST part) of our life coaching series with you! Before we dive into certified and professional life coach Jill Kersh’s Four Questions to Ask Yourself to Start Your Most Successful Year Yet — let’s hear how to really create the change we want in our lives, according to Jill.
Find the things you are doing right – acknowledge these and commend yourself. Combine these practices with meaningful goals and your motivation will ascend. Meaningful goals are ones that have deep meaning and motivation to you. A resolution involves a specific action like exercising more or losing a certain amount of weight. When you connect your resolution with what achieving this resolution will give you (why it has specific meaning to you personally) then you will stay motivated. If achieving this goal will make you feel proud, will make you feel sexy— then you can stay motivated through reaching and surpassing your goals.
“When you stay focused on your intention, turn down the negative voices in your head, and stay connected to your heart’s satisfaction and passion, then you will achieve wildly!”
– Jill Kersh
I hope you are starting to feel motivated, because I sure am!
4 QUESTIONS TO ASK YOURSELF FOR YOUR MOST SUCCESSFUL YEAR:
1. What goals are most meaningful to you this year? You will know because you will know because when you think of them your heart will flutter more, you will get excited and a little scared. Go for those ones! Many people start the year feeling they “need” to create lofty resolutions. Rather than doing this, I encourage you to choose goals that will truly add meaning and happiness to your life. When you tie a goal with what it will give you, your motivation will sustain and soar! For example, if someone strictly says they should lose 15 pounds they may lose motivation in a week. As a life coach I would ask my client what losing 15 pounds would give them. If the answer has large meaning to you, for example “I will feel proud” or “I will feel pretty” then you are tying into your meaningful motivation.
2. With your goals, ask yourself who and what will make you most successful? Do you need an accountability partner? Is there a friend you have with knowledge in this area? Are you serious about this goal and want to engage a life coach in this area to help you stay on track? Declaring your intentions and goals out loud is powerful. When you share and declare your intentions with others you engage more commitment to yourself. It becomes real. Meditation is also very helpful to stay on track. Secondly, it activates the law of attraction toward what you want to create in your life.
3. This is a great time to create a vision of how you want to be in 2019. You can go to a vision board workshop or hire a coach to create a vision board that works as a true symbol into both what means most to you and what steps will get you there. Also, successful symbols can be items or pictures that remind you to stay on track. For some people this is a special screen saver. For others, it is a stone with meaningful words engraved on it, or find whatever sets your heart on fire.
4. What are 3 things you can do this month to take your meaningful goal and start transforming it into reality?
With all of that said, reaching and surpassing goals involves change. Change often creates doubtful or negative voices and thoughts – defeating voices in our heads pop up. If you can’t get rid of these then choose to turn down the volume of these negative voices. Adding gratitude will assist in this process. Comparison to others kills gratitude. Focus on YOU.
We are encouraging each and every one of you to choose your life! Even if you choose to relax and do nothing, know it’s a choice. What do you want more of in 2019? What do you want less of in 2019? YOU CAN CREATE IT!
“Become conscious, choose, embrace your wants and dreams, and enjoy turning them into reality!”
– Jill Kersh
