This #WorkoutWednesday I wanted to share with you the importance of wearing proper shoes for your workouts. I have been getting a few messages about what sneakers I wear and wanted to share this info with all of you!
WHY ARE THE RIGHT PAIR OF SHOES IMPORTANT?
Wearing the correct sneaker is so important! They help prevent injuries and the proper cushioning and structure is vital for your knees. (Especially for all you runners out there!)
Please take it from me personally. I have dealt with a knee injury before, and it’s far from fun. The shoes aren’t what caused my injury. However, once I got my knee back to a healthy place, thanks to doctors and 8 months of physical therapy, finding the right shoes were so important. First of all, they helped me get back to working out again with the cushioning my knee needed. And they also are helping prevent me from future injuries by allowing my feet to land the right way when walking, running, or in a stance for weights.
HOW TO FIND THE SHOE THAT IS BEST FOR YOU
If you have the time and money to go to a shoe store that specializes in helping you find your perfect sneaker, do it! These places will put you on a treadmill and take pictures and videos of you while you run to see how you land on your feet when exercising. Once they access if you land on the side of your foot, the ball of your foot, “normal”, etc. then they will send you in the direction of the fit, style, and brand of shoe you need.
If you don’t have the time or money to go to invest in a specialty store like this, please look at my shoes below! These are shoes that the stores I just explained led me to, and I could not be happier with them! When they dissected my running style on the treadmill, they said I land on my feet just like I should be. So if you think you are landing on your feet properly too when walking/running, hopefully the shoes below will be perfect for you too! (I also made sure to get great cushioning on my running and walking shoes for my knees — they’re the comfiest shoes ever).
I will also link the shoes with the names of them.
Pro-Tip:
Don’t go straight to the cute shoes when looking for a great running shoe. The feel is most important. Totally get cute, fun shoes of course! Just save those shoes for running errands, walking around the mall, going to a football game, and for an overall lifestyle shoe. I’ll also share mine with you below my workout ones 🙂
ps– please don’t judge how dirty some are! Like I said, these are my personal shoes I’m sharing with you to try and help you! These aren’t perfect ones I’m taking pictures of at a store.
MY RUNNING SHOES
Mine are Nike Zoom Vomero 10. But they’re already outdated, so I am going to link for you the
Nike Zoom Vomero 11 (they come in tons more awesome colors than the 10).
MY WALKING SHOES
(When I say walking, I don’t mean walking around a mall. I mean I am going for a long walk in the neighborhood, on a trail, etc.)
OTHER WORK OUT SHOES
(These shoes are so vibrant and are technically running shoes, but I will lift weights in these shoes. You can absolutely enjoy them for running or walking though because they are super cushioned and mold to my feet really well).
Nike Lunarepic Low Flyknit 2 Running Shoe
LIFESTYLE SHOES
(These are the shoes I was telling you about that I’ll run errands in, walk around the mall, wear to a game, etc.)
Nike Roshe
(I think these in particular were limited edition, but there are other colors out there and newer styles).
Here is a black & white pair I found.
These shoes you can literally bend in half they’re so lightweight and flexible.
I hope all of this info was helpful!
xoxo
