(AND ALL THAT COMES WITH IT)
We’ve all been through a rough point in life. Most likely, the more of a #goal-getter you are, you’ve probably encountered multiple lows. The higher of a goal and better life you strive for, the more likely you are to hit a rough patch. That’s just math, right?! The more you do x the more y will happen. I’m far from a mathematician but that seems pretty logical to me.
I do much better with words than with math (just ask my little brother). So I would like to go the quote route. I hope this will be a life-changing quote for you, because it was for me!
“If your path is more difficult, it’s because your calling is higher.”
How GREAT does that quote make you feel!? It’s so true! I can talk forever dissecting how I view hardships and how I handle them with as much grace and strength as I possibly can — but for the purpose of this post I’m going to discuss outreach.
My husband and I really reach for the stars with goals and the life we want to live.
We dream big and we go after it. We will move anywhere, anytime at a drop of a hat to take our next big step. No questions asked, no reservations, big leaps of faith… we just go for it. So, as you can gather via the quote, since we’ve taken so many shots at our goals, we’ve been thru it all. My husband will jokingly bring up “When Murphy’s Law is in Full Swing.” When absolutely everything that can go wrong, goes wrong and the hits keep on coming. Yup, that’s happened to us many times.
Reach out to your dear friends and family when they need you and are encountering something difficult. Even if you think they are strong, I promise, they still need you. If you don’t know what to say, simply say, “I love you and I am thinking about you ❤️.” You have no idea how far that one little line will go. Either it will warm their heart or they will open up and vent to you which will end up making their heart feel less heavy.
I highly value emotional strength, positivity and smiling. Cue Buddy the Elf– “Smiling is my favorite!” So some people seem to think I’m fine when I am going thru a difficult time or they think reaching out just once is “enough.” Follow up with them, let them know you’re there. They will lean on you.
Now, the flip side.
If you are the one going thru a little life low, reach out to your loved ones. If you’re wanting them to strike the conversation first because that is “right” — just bite your tongue and reach out. They are there for you and love you and may just not know what to say or how to handle a situation. (Reference previous paragraph if that’s you). You can only be so strong for so long. Plus it’s hopefully easier going thru a tough time with someone else than sticking it out all alone. Also, be open. Tell your close friends and family (or anyone for that matter) how you truly feel and what you are really going thru. It will help both you and them.
Go ahead, you got this!
If your calling is higher than others, keep on keeping on during “those times” because it will be SO worth it in the end. Keep chasing your biggest dreams, following your heart, imagination, and God’s gifts. And if you aren’t having enough hardships and ebbs and flows… take a little piece of advice from good ole’ Marry Poppins:
“If you reach for the stars
All you get are the stars
But we’ve found a whole new spin
If you reach for the heavens
You get the stars thrown in”
REACH HIGHER!!
