Today I am sharing my love of water, 5 healthy habits I do daily, and taking you grocery shopping to show you my
favorite brands I drink with my water!
I love living a healthy lifestyle and if I can share some insights on some of my favorite daily routines and help one person, I would be happy. I am not a nutritionist or health expert, I’m just passionate about healthy living and sharing what works for me!
I drink TONS of water throughout the day. Staying hydrated is really important to me. I’ve trained myself to feel “naked” if I don’t have a water bottle in my hand at all times. If I don’t have enough water intake while I’m traveling or on vacation, I can absolutely feel the difference in my body.
Don’t get me wrong, my water obsession did not happen overnight. Like I said, it took lots of training. I used to drink sodas regularly and drink caffeine daily during college and working in NYC. Now I can proudly say I have not had one soda since June 2013. Almost FOUR YEARS! It wasn’t necessarily a strict rule I made for myself at the beginning- – i just felt the longer I went without drinking one, the less I wanted to have one. Now with living the healthy lifestyle and knowing how bad sodas are for you via tons of research, I have ZERO desire to put one in my body.
I want to share what I also drink with my water every day. I encourage you to give one of the below a try. If you don’t feel inclined or don’t think it’s the smart decision for you, then I challenge you to up your water intake! Your body will thank you!
1. APPLE CIDER VINEGAR
ACV has so many benefits!!! It can lower cholesterol, aid in weight loss, has anti-inflammatory properties, controls blood sugar, lowers blood pressure, improves heart health, boosts energy, and seriously so much more. I make sure I get ACV with The Mother. The Mother is organic, unfiltered ACV with strands of protein, enzymes, and good bacteria. It looks weird and is a weird consistency, but has amazing benefits! I personally take 2 tablespoon shots of it and then chase them with water. I know lots of people mix their shots with water and other ingredients, such as cinnamon, to make it taste better but it’s just the way I’ve been doing it for years and it works for me. I also hear taking it in the morning is a great way to jump-start your day because it will wake you up (it has a VERY strong sting if you’ve never tasted it before.) The reason why I love taking it at night is because I feel like it flushes out my body from the day. Especially if I had salty foods that day, I can feel the difference the next morning when I take it at night vs if I don’t. The brand I use: Bragg’s Organic Raw/Unfiltered ACV with The Mother
2. COCONUT WATER
Since I drink water 24/7 and nothing else most of the time, I like adding a little flavor a couple times a week with coconut water. The brand I use: Harmless Harvest’s Harmless Organic Coconut Water
Yes, throwing you back to science class – – the green pigment from plants that absorbs light from the sun. Chlorophyll is said to aid in many areas including red blood cells, antioxidants, detoxification and more. I add a “vile” (about 18 drops) to my water both morning and night. The brand I use has a mint flavor. It tastes like an extremely strong & unique mint tea. One that has steeped for too long. It’s not bad. That’s just how I would describe it. The brand I use: Herb’s Etc. ChlorOxygen’s Chlorophyll Concentrate Mint Flavor
4. WARM LEMON WATER
Benefits of lemon water: Enhances metabolism, aids in digestion, boosts immune system, acts as a diuretic, aids in weight loss, and many more. lemons have lots of vitamin c, along with b1, b12, b3 and vitamin a. Similar to when I drink apple cider vinegar, I feel like I am flushing my system when I drink warm lemon water.
5. OF COURSE, JUST WATER ITSELF!
