FILA
(FOREVER I LOVE ATLANTA)
I am an Atlanta advocate, a Georgia girl tried and true. The Capital of the South has been my home since I was three years old and no matter where football takes my hubby and I, Atlanta is always our home base. During the off-season we get to spend a good amount of time back in the Peach State with our families and recharge from a hectic season.
This post isn’t intended to share why ATL is special to me though – – I want to share with you a perfect day date if you’re in this fabulous city! (I have lots of recommendations, but here is an example of one of my favorite types of days. At the end I’m also listing my other favorite places to go, where to eat, etc.)
BRUNCH: WEST EGG CAFE
You can’t go wrong with anything you order from West Egg, but my personal fave is the egg and cheese biscuit with roasted garlic grits and a honey vanilla latte…you can thank me later 🙂 You will be downright obsessed with their grits and their biscuit.
WALK OFF THAT BRUNCH BY GOING TO…
PIEDMONT PARK
THE ATLANTA BELTLINE
The BeltLine has been a massive undertaking by the City of Atlanta. The project has transformed old railroads that circled the city into trendy, hustling and bustling “concrete trails” connecting many hip neighborhoods and areas. You can walk, jog, run, rent a bike, roller blade, walk your dog – – whatever your heart desires. Lots of cool, local, modern artwork is displayed everywhere you look, as well as great views of the ATL skyline. By the time the project will be completely finished, there will be 22 miles of trails. Needless to say, you can spend an entire day filled with entertainment and local Atlanta feels!
EXPLORE PONCE CITY MARKET
There are many restaurants and bars that are easily accessible from the trail. One of the most notable areas to explore off the BeltLine is Ponce City Market. There is a food hall with many delicious nooks and restaurants varying from candy shops, Asian restaurants, Mexican food, Italian wine bars, and even a beer station where you can get a keg or growler from local craft brewers! There is also plenty of outdoor and indoor shopping. If you’re wanting a local vibe, Ponce City Market and the Atlanta BeltLine will exceed your expectations.
At sunset, head to Ponce City Market’s rooftop for dinner at the elevated beer garden, 9 Mile Station. Then keep the night going strong with fun and games at Skyline Park!
Where we stayed:
We live here so obvi we are staying at home. But, we have stayed at some hotels here for fun events and here is what I recommend:
Midtown: Four Seasons Atlanta, Renaissance Atlanta Midtown Hotel (this property used to be a Kimpton, so it’s the most updated & hip Renaissance I’ve seen. It has a great rooftop as well.)
Buckhead: W Atlanta Buckhead, The Ritz-Carlton Buckhead
Where to eat:
Southern Comfort Food Musts: West Egg Cafe, South City Kitchen, JCT Kitchen
Great restaurants: Murphy’s (Virgina Highlands), La Tavola Trattoria (Virginia Highlands), The Optimist (West Midtown), 9 Mile Station, and so so so many more. Reach out to me if you want more recs.
Where to go:
Piedmont Park, Ponce City Market, Skyline Park, The BeltLine, Georgia Aquarium, Atlanta Botanical Garden, Atlanta Braves Game at SunTrust Park,
Where to fly into:
ATL
