favorite island in the caribbean
Anguilla
Favorite part about Caribbean culture: There is nothing like the friendly, laid-back island vibes. You feel the kindness and vibrant spirit everywhere. It ignites a relaxing free-spirit feeling in you.
I’m lucky enough to have visited most of the Caribbean Islands and Anguilla’s water knocks them all out of the park.
The Unique Turquoise Blue
Scilly Cay
Scilly Cay is a tiny coral-based island off of island Harbour Village, Anguilla. It is only open a handful of days a week and only open during the daytime. You know why it’s only open during daytime??? There is no electricity on the island! I repeat, there is no electricity on the island. That means no refrigerators – – your food is the freshest food you will ever eat. There are only 4 meals on the menu and if you’re getting seafood, you will literally watch them catch it and bring it straight to you. They are known for their crayfish and lobster, as well as their drinks of course. Scilly Cay is a restaurant, bar, and party island.
You might be wondering how you get there? Scilly Cay provides a little dingy boat for transportation. How do you get in touch with them to come pick you up? “Walk to the dock. Wave like an idiot to the island, we’ll spot you and be there in a jiffy.” Their exact words verbatim, I swear! And guess what? It works… That is exactly how they do it.

Drew on Scilly Cay’s dingy.
Also make sure to check out Blanchards & Blanchards Beach Shack for a meal as well.
Shoal Bay
This beach consistently ranks as one of the best beaches in the world. Not just the Caribbean, the world! It is also consistently ranked the #1 top beach in the Caribbean. Needless to say, it’s Anguilla’s most famous beach.
Where we stayed wasn’t too shabby either.

The view when we opened the front door.
How to get to Anguilla
You fly into St. Maarten (SXM) and then take a boat to Anguilla. It’s a hilarious experience going through customs. There is a bar at the customs dock and it’s awesome. You also get a pretty boat ride from island to island.
leaving thoughts… we can all learn from the words of Fish King Beach Bar and Grill. Also, make sure to try rhum punch. You will find it everywhere on the island – – it’s Anguilla’s specialty.
