Here is my first official personal post- – and it’s one I’ve been itching to write for a very long time. So, here we go.
My goal is to show you that words can hurt and to be cautious about how you treat people. Be kind to your friends, family, loved ones, and even people you don’t know. By me being vulnerable writing this, I hope you see my message.
treat others as you wish to be treated.
Can you imagine being fired publicly? Can you imagine turning on the tv and the media and fans are talking sh*t about you? Can you imagine getting tweeted at constantly by arrogant, ignorant people that have no life- – cussing at you, wishing you get injured (and glad that you do, when you do), wishing you lose your job (and happy you do, when you do), giving you death threats, tweeting at your family as well…oh and did I even mention Facebook and Instagram comments?
That has been mine and my husband’s life this past football season. For the past 5 seasons in the public eye for that matter, but this season certainly took the first place medal for the worst year yet. Drew got injured on his first play during the first game of the season, and it all went downhill from there.
Haters will say we signed up for this life. That we are public figures and therefore that comes with the territory. Haters will say we make too much money to make mistakes. Haters will say we lost them money playing their fantasy football game or when they gambled on the game. Haters will say it all. But, that’s what they are – – haters. They don’t know anything. They can talk the talk and they couldn’t be on the other end of it for one millisecond.
don’t treat others the way you don’t want to be treated.
There is no word to describe what it’s like when you see the love of your life get injured. There is no word to describe what it’s like when he gets boo-ed off the field for a simple mistake. There is no word to describe the strength my husband and I have both as a couple and individually to not only get through what we go through – – but to do it and still come out as good-hearted people.
I can’t tell you how hard it is to watch your loved one endure such absolutely despicable, undeserving hostility.
For fans it’s just a game. For us, it’s our livelihood.
So before you’re about to criticize someone next time, stop and think for a minute… how would you feel?
wish upon others what you wish for yourself
I believe in karma. And while we continue to rise and be very successful, they will…well, you can fill in the blank 🙂
I’m here to say, Live the Golden Rule.
